Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, known as Farmaajo, is a Somali political leader and former government official who served as President of Somalia between 2017 and 2022. Before becoming president, he served as Prime Minister of Somalia from November 2010 to June 2011. He later returned to national politics and was elected President of the Federal Republic of Somalia in February 2017.

Mohamed Siad Barre was a Somali military officer and political leader who became the head of state following the military coup of 21 October 1969. He led Somalia for more than two decades during the period known as the Somali Democratic Republic.
Abdiqasim Salad Hassan is a Somali politician and former President of Somalia who served from 2000 to 2004. He became politically active while studying in the Soviet Union in the 1960s, where he was involved with the Somali Students Association. He returned to Somalia in 1965 and began working with the Ministry of Agriculture. He subsequently held a number of senior government positions during the government of Mohamed Siad Barre, including ministerial positions and, later, the position of Minister of Interior. After the collapse of the central government in 1991, Abdiqasim left Somalia and spent part of the following period in Cairo. He later returned to Mogadishu and became involved in political reconciliation efforts. In 2000, he became a central figure in the Somali National Peace Conference in Arta, Djibouti. The Transitional National Assembly elected him President, and he became head of the Transitional National Government.

Abdullahi Issa Mohamud was a prominent Somali politician, diplomat, and statesman who played an important role in Somalia’s independence movement, political development, and state-building. He joined the Somali Youth Club in 1944 and later became one of the important leaders of the Somali Youth League (SYL), advocating for Somali independence both nationally and internationally. He represented Somali interests before international institutions, including the United Nations, and participated in political efforts concerning Somalia’s future and independence. He served as Prime Minister of Somalia from 1956 to 1960, leading the government during the crucial transition toward independence. Following independence, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1960 to 1964, contributing to Somalia’s early diplomatic relations and international representation. He also held other governmental and diplomatic responsibilities, including serving as Somalia’s ambassador to Sweden. Abdullahi Issa Mohamud remains an important historical figure in Somalia’s transition from colonial rule to independence and statehood. He died in Rome in March 1988, and his remains were later returned to Somalia.
